flamenco guitar course

Our flamenco guitar teacher Tony “El Despeinao” is beginning a new course that will focus on accompaniment of the dance.

Dancers from Escuela de Baile will be on hand to provide an opportunity for course participants to experience accompanying different styles first - hand, and there will also be a chance for students to sit on on Nuria’s dance classes.

The great Sabicas once said that it was essential to become a good flamenco accompanist before becoming a flamenco guitar soloist - this course will sort out your compas and give you the guidance and knowledge you need to set you in the right direction

Tony has over 25 years experience as a flamenco guitarist and is also a qualified music teacher (BMus / PGCEmusic) having studied at City University and Goldsmiths. He employs the latest techniques including providing software which will enable you to practice at home, secure in the knowledge you are playing the rhythms correctly

Don t miss this opportunity to hone your compas and practical knowledge of the flamenco guitar The course will run for ten weeks at a cost of £140.00 or £15.00 per individual session Mondays 8 - 9.30 pm from May 10th 2010.

The course is suitable for guitarists of all levels

"Great lesson on Monday just what I need and brilliant to see some proper song and dance and see how simple it can be. I must confess not to have done much rumba so I'm starting from scratch there, I've been learning all the 12's to get me into that compas and I think its finally starting to sink in. The course is very exciting with all the dancing going on around it and the potential to one day actually participate in the real thing one day, Nuria has the place jumping!"
