This year we are delighted to bring Manuela Rios to teach Intermediate and Advanced Choreography and Bata de Cola.
The Flamenco Dance Course will have classes at four levels; Beginners, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced. All dance students will study flamenco dance technique and an original, complete choreography. The Beginners will be taught by Nuria García, Elementary by Vicki Ramos and Intermediate and Advanced by Manuela Rios. The course will run for 5 days, one and a half hours a day.
This course teaches the famous flamenco dance of Jerez — the Bulerías. These short pieces of choreography, full of character, are traditionally featured at the end of flamenco shows. This course is taught at 2 levels: Level 1 is taught by Nuria García and Level 2 by Vicki Ramos. This class lasts one hour per day.
In this class you will improve your style by working on arms, footwork and turns. This class is taught at 2 levels: Level 1 is taught by Nuria Garcia and level 2 by Vicki Ramos. This class lasts one hour per day.
Learn the style and technique of the distinctive long Bata de Cola skirt (suitable for flamenco students of Intermediate level and above).Taught by Manuela Rios for one hour each day.
Taught by Vicki Ramos for half an hour each day.
Manuela Rios was born in Seville and trained with Manolo Marin, Jose Galvan, Farruco and Tona. Her impressive early career included performances with the Farrucos and Paco de Lucia. She has been part of Cristina Hoyos’ company and currently performs as lead dancer with Javier Baron’s company.
Vicki Ramos, head of Centro de Baile Jerez has performed and taught all over the world.
Nuria García, Head of Escuela de Baile, has danced with top flamenco companies and has taught workshops all over the world. Her work with new students is astounding.

Juan Ogalla was lead male dancer in Cristina Hoyo’s company for 7 years. He studied flamenco with the great teachers such as Concha Baras, Angelita Gomez and Manolo Marin. His extensive career includes touring Japan with Yoko Komatsubara’s and Lola Greco’s companies as well as touring the world with his own company
La Malena A solo dance artist and choreographer, La Malena has long been immersed in flamenco through living and studying in Spain. Her teachers include Juana Amaya, Farruquito, Andres Marín and Isabel Bayón, among others.Now living in Seville, Spain, where she performs frequently, her next project is the production “Triana” with invited guest artist Juan Ogalla, which will be presented in Canada this year.
Vicki Ramos is head of Centro de Baile de Jerez. She is an examiner for the Spanish Dance Society and has been invited to dance and teach all over the world.
Nuria García is head of Escuela de Baile. She has danced with many important companies and taught at many top dance schools.
Pascual de Lorca is one of Spain’s most versatile and talented guitar players, as a concert player, dancing accompanist and teacher. He is the guitar player of the dancing company of Antonio El Pipa and of such female dancers as Patricia Valdes and Patricia Ibañez and performed at the Sadlers Wells Flamenco festival last year. His own company performs to a world audience.
Choreography: Each class will learn an original choreography suitable for its level. Beginners will be taught by Nuria García, Elementary by Vicki Ramos, Lower Intermediate by La Malena and Intermediate and Advanced by Juan Ogalla. Each class is 2 hours.
Technique: These classes will improve your speed and style. Level 1 is taught by Nuria García and Level 2 by La Malena. Each class is 1 hour.
Bulerias: These short, fast dances are full of character and fun. Level 1 is taught by Nuria García, Level 2 by Vicki Ramos and Level 3 by La Malena. Each class is 1 hour.
Bata de Cola: Learn the beautiful style and technique of the distinctive long Bata de Cola skirt. Note: this class is for Intermediate Level and above and you must have your own bata. This class is taught by Vicki Ramos for 1 hour each day.
Cajon/Palmas: Improve your compas and timing as well as your understanding of flamenco structure and rhythm.
Sevillanas Refresher: Improve your Sevillanas! You must already have learnt the basics to attend this course. You will learn to dance at different speeds and to different songs. Each class is 1 hour.
Guitar: Suitable for all levels. Pascual de Lorca will teach this course for 2 hours per day.

This year we are delighted to announce that classes are being taught by Rafaela Carrasco, Pilar Ogalla, Beatriz Morales, Pascual Lorca (Guitar), Vicki Ramos and Nuria Garcia
We offer classes at all levels; Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced, Bata de Cola and Cajon.

The courses take place in modern air conditioned studios at Centro de Baile, 15 minutes from the centre of Jerez. Classes are held in the morning when the day is cooler.
All classes are accompanied by local professional guitarists and singers. After class you can relax or explore the lovely narrow streets and shady squares of Jerez, visit a Moorish castle or the Flamenco Museum. Beautiful beaches are only 20 minutes away and the fabulous city of Seville only an hour’s journey.
By night experience the vibrant atmosphere of the many bars and restaurants of Jerez, taking in the flamenco haunts normally off limits to foreign visitors.
Rafaela Carrasco began dancing at a young age at Matilde Corral’s Escuela de Danza and in 1991 joined Mario Maya’s Company where she became soloist. Her impressive career has included collaborations with Belen Maya., Javier Barrón and Rafael Amargo amongst others. With her own company she tours the world and will be performing at this year’s Flamenco Festival at Sadler’s Wells.
Manuela Rios was born in Seville and trained with Manolo Marin, Jose Galvan, Farruco and Tona. Her impressive early career included performances with the Farrucos and Paco de Lucia. She has been part of Cristina Hoyos’ company and currently performs as lead dancer with Javier Baron’s company.
Pilar Ogalla was born in Cádiz where she made her flamenco debut in 1982. She has toured the world with illustrious companies such as Cristana Hoyos’ and Juan Ogalla’s as well as performing in Los Gallos and Casa Patas in Madrid. She currently teaches in Manuel Betanzo’s Academy and has recently formed her own company with Andrés Peña.
Beatriz Morales comes to us from Jerez where she received her teaching qualification. She has studied with many top teachers including Belen Maya and Mercedes Ruiz, performs at Los Gallos in Seville as well as internationally and is currently working with Antonio ‘El Pipa’.
Vicki Ramos has danced with many well known flamenco companies. She is now head of Centro de Baile Jerez, travelling the world teaching and examining. PDB(SDS) RAD(T.Dip)
